Politics and football. The necessary foundation of la Union Deportiva Almería in the decade of 1940

At the beginning of the forties the natives of Almeria recover their interest by sport founding multiple clubs of football. The small dimensión of these teams prevents them to be able to reach and aceptable level in the national competition. Because ofi t, the political pro-Franco local leaders will intervene founding a club that Will assemble the best players. The action of the civil Governors Will be determinant; intervention that will even take to name like President of the club pro-franco Provincial Delegate of Unions.
During the studied period the economic and sanitary situation is very deficient; the judicial processes against the Segurity of State increase at the end of the decade in Almeria. Out of the country, the Allies debate the possibility of intervening to knock down Franco’s regime. In this contexto f economic, social and political problems, the public Powers saw the need to control the Sport in order to use it as social stabilizer.
