Abstract

This article analyses the life of the master of fencing Luis Pacheco de Narváez, better known for his enmity with the great writer Francisco de Quevedo tan for his contribution to the art of fencing, or, as he called it, the skill of arms. Pacheco wrote numerous treaties about fencing, becoming and authority in the field, through respected by some and attacked by others; another aspecto of his work, equally important, is that his extensive literary production provides us with a reliable picture of the society of his times, in the middle of the Spanish Golden Age.
