Resumen

La fachada retablo-galería de la catedral de Panamá es una composición mixta conformada por tres cuerpos, el primero con las tres puertas de
ingreso, el segundo es la galería cuyos arcos alteran la configuración del retablo y el tercero, el frontón que enlaza la calle central y las entrecalles. La iconografía se basa en el apostolado escultórico de madera que se distribuye en cuatro hornacinas situadas en las entrecalles, otro par a cada lado de estas en el segundo cuerpo más otras cuatro en el frontón y la hornacina principal en el remate del mismo. Se describen sus características en comparación con la portada de la catedral de Lima y la apariencia de sus
materiales pétreos.

Abstract

The altarpiece-gallery façade of the cathedral of Panama is a mixed composition consisting of three bodies, the first with three entrance doors, the second is the gallery which arches alter the altarpiece configuration and
the third, the pediment linking the central street and the transitional spaces. The iconography is based on the wooden sculptural apostolate distributed in four niches located in the transitional spaces, one pair on each side of these on the second body, four on the pediment plus the main niche added in the end of same. Their characteristics are described
in comparison to the façade of Cathedral of Lima and the appearance of stone materials.
