Abstract
Everyday a large quantity of drinking water is wasted by requesting sanitary hot water in the various sanitary devices in the homes. In addition to this waste of water, there is also a high energy consumption caused by heating the water until to the desired temperature. In this work, a new automatic system has been developed that interconnects the cold water and hot water circuits, so that when the latter is demanded, the system causes the cold water contained in the hot water pipe and the one supplied by the boiler to be recirculated until the hot water temperature reaches a certain setpoint automatically. With this, it is possible to avoid a large part of the waste of drinking water and energy that systematically occurs today. In addition, simulations have been carried out on water consumption in the Comunidad of Madrid, and the savings and amortization achieved using the automatic recirculation system developed have been quantified.
