In 2011, Germany introduced the concept of the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0, emphasizing digitalization and Big Data integration in industrial processes. This transformation extended to construction, giving rise to Construction 4.0. Similarly, in 2014, the UK coined the term "PropTech" (Property & Technology), revolutionizing real estate sectors such as investment, management, marketing, and data analysis, empowering users as "smart citizens" and fostering "smart buildings."
In this context, the "Digital Building Logbook" emerges as a pivotal tool for building management, with the technical architect taking on a central role as the primary manager. This digital logbook, developed by the Technical Architecture Association of Barcelona, centralizes building information, enabling planning, maintenance, and continuous improvement through a dynamic model. Its integrative approach supports informed decision-making, enhancing efficiency across all phases of a building's lifecycle.
The implementation of the Digital Building Logbook not only modernizes property management but also positions the technical architect as a proactive leader in the digital transformation of construction, bridging technology and architecture to address contemporary challenges.
