Author Guidelines

  • Author Guidelines

Before sending an article, please read the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement (PEMS)

ArDIn is an “Open Access” online publication. Articles will be published in PDF format, and will be available free to readers immediately after online publication, at the following address: http://polired.upm.es/index.php/ardin/index

ArDIn is aimed at specialists, researchers and professionals who innovate in the interaction of art, design and engineering. It publishes original works of empirical and theoretical character, carried out with methodological rigor and suppose a contribution to the research fields, without losing sight of the multidisciplinary nature that characterizes these fields of knowledge.

  • Submission of manuscripts for evaluation and approval

Manuscripts should preferably be written in Spanish or English. Submitted manuscripts will be first linguistically reviewed. Manuscripts with poor quality will be returned without being evaluated. Submission of a manuscript implies that all co-authors have approved and accepted the content of the presented text, tables, graphic material and any other extra material provided. The contact author will be responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have correct information about the presented manuscript. All submissions must be accompanied by an authors’ short résumé and a text that clearly indicates the original and unpublished nature of the manuscript content. The article has not been sent simultaneously to another publication for assessment. ArDIn subjects all manuscripts received to an originality proof process offered by Turnitin, LLC.

  • Preparation of manuscripts

The article must start with the authors’ names, affiliation and Emails in a separate sheet, followed by the article with no information about the authors.

To assist authors, an “author’s template” can be downloaded at:

 ArDIn_TEMPLATE.dot

  • Article structure:

The paper should be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections and subsections. Any section or subsection may be given a brief heading. Each article should include the following sections:

  • Title: Paper title should be explicit, precise and clearly reflect its content. It should be followed by the author´s(s’) name (s), surname (s), affiliation (s), contact author Email and ORCID number (if possible).
  • Abstract: An abstract in English and Spanish (maximum 300 words in each language) clearly pointing out objectives, approach and conclusions.
  • Keywords. Between 4 to 7 keywords may be listed to define the  content of the paper. Each word will be follow by a semicolon
  • Wording and Presentation: The text should be worded as clearly and concisely as possible. Authors must submit their manuscripts in English or Spanish to the following e-mail address: artdesign.etsidi@upm.es. You may choose to submit your manuscript as a single file to be used in the refereeing process both in PDF and Word document.
  • Figures or Images: Figures will be sent separately in jpg format, with high definition (minimum 200ppi). Authors are responsible for the use of the images and must point out the image author or the origin of the image (unless it is the same author of the article, in which case only "figure/image of the author" must be specified). The Journal reserves the right to modify the size of the images if necessary for its correct publication, respecting as far as possible the original format of the author.
  • References: References should be limited to publications directly related to the paper submitted. The citations and bibliographic references will be adapted to the APA standards (American Psychological Association). Footnotes must be limited as much as possible, using them only to clarify something essential and must be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the paper (Read Quick Answers: References in https://apastyle.apa.org/)
  • Reviewers

It is recommended to provide the complete data (affiliation, email) of two possible reviewers for evaluating the article. The proposal must be justified by being specialists in the field of work the article addresses. The reviewers must not belong to the author's own institution, or assume any conflict of interest. Journal editor reserves the right to propose these or other reviewers for the evaluation of the article, in the event that it passes to the revision phase.

  • Submission and acceptance:

Papers submitted for publication in ArDIn must meet the requirements set out below. Non-compliant manuscripts will be returned.

The contents and opinions expressed are the exclusive responsibility of the authors, and do not compromise the opinion and editorial policy of the journal.

  • Originals:

All originals received will be blinded peer-reviewed. Final decisions on the publication of manuscripts will be made by the Editorial Board based on the referee’s evaluations. Referee’s suggestions will be forwarded by the authors as proper. Only original manuscripts not previously published in other journals will be accepted.
