ABSTRACT
The objectives of the present work were to estimate the nitrogen (N) fertilizer replacement value of the N contained in dairy manure slurry from dry matter production (VFRNMS) and N consumption (VFRNN) with respect to calcium ammonium nitrate fertilizer (CAN 27%), as well as the ammonia losses when applied by splash plate (Sp) or injected (In) in an Italian rye-grass alternative type crop. The experiment was conducted along the years 2011 and 2012 using the Agraco-812 variety of rye-grass (cultivar), with N dosing of 0, 30, 60 and 90 kg ha-1, applied at two times. The differences in forage yield per hectare with respect to CAN for Sp-In were 1372-939 Kg MS ha-1; in N intake 32– 22 Kg ha-1; in apparent N efficiency 25.1-17.2 Kg MS Kg-1 and in N apparently recovered 0.58- 0.4 Kg N Kg-1 N respectively. N-NH3 losses were 62.9% lower when using injection instead of splash plate. VFRNMS and VFRNN were 20% and 18% higher when using injection in comparison to splash plate application. These percentages increased 7% and 8% when N-NH3 losses were considered.
