Abstract

The growing depletion of natural resources and the increase in industrial activity is leading the construction sector to search for new materials that are more respectful of the environment. In this work, an experimental program has been carried out to know the physical and mechanical properties of cement mortars made with chamotte, with the intention of studying its technical feasibility in comparison with mortars made with natural aggregate. The results show how the use of crushed ceramic waste as a substitute for natural aggregate for the manufacture of mortars is viable. However, the final mechanical resistance of the mortars is reduced when using recycled aggregates from chamotte, as well as worse physical properties that could limit the use of these mortars on site.
